Ep. 45 - Global Missions - Feat. Peter Russell
“In our walk with the Lord, Lordship has to be a set issue. You have to deal with Lordship in your life. There has to be a time of surrender when you say, ‘I will go anywhere, and I will do anything for you.’” - Peter Russell

The Lift Up:
In John Piper’s book “Don’t Waste Your Life,” I read this short, incredible poem by missionary C.T. Studd this week. Here it is:
Only one life, 'Twill soon be past; Only what's done for Christ will last.
It lined up so well with a verse I memorized last week from John 15. Verse 8 says, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” My friend, God wants you to know Him and produce much eternal fruit with your life. Get connected to Christ through faith, remain in Him (John 15), and you will produce eternal fruit. Yes!!
The Scripture Prayer:
Psalm 32:8 NIV I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
- Heavenly Father, I’m so thankful for your Word. If it weren’t so clear from your Word, my heart would not be able to believe your kindness, goodness, and generosity. How precious this promise is to me. That I can depend on you to Father me, to instruct and teach me, to guide me - what hope-fueling, rest-producing, fear-demolishing truth. But the last idea in this short promise takes it over the top. Could it be? You counsel me with your loving eye on me? Your loving eye. Oh Father, I just take a moment to let you give me a picture of your smile over me as my Father since I’m in Christ. There’s no greater joy than living in the Heavenly Father’s smile. Counsel me, Father. Lead me. Guide me. Help me. I need you. I love you.
In your powerful and beautiful name, Amen.
Jake’s Tool for Tomorrow:
A Prayer Acrostic has been an incredible tool for me in my prayer life. I’ll share one that I have used, and I encourage you to come up with your own. Here’s how to do it: Choose a word that is meaningful to you and to your relationship with God. Then choose words for each letter of the main word you chose that you will pray through. This can be a path or track you use while praying to stay focused. For example: My main word is “Trust” and the other words I pray through that spell Trust are Truth, Rely, Unto you, Saved, and Thanksgiving:
Truth - I just start praying and declaring truth over my life from God's Word. Rely - I tell the Lord that I'm relying on Him today. I ask for faith. Unto you - This is where I make my requests known to my Heavenly Father. Saved - I preach/pray the Gospel over myself. I'm saved by grace in Christ. Thanksgiving - This is where I thank the Father for all I'm grateful for.
Try it out. Come up with a Prayer acrostic, and pray it! I’d love to hear what yours is. Reply to this email and let me know, if you’d be so kind!
Thanks for reading the LFTD Lift Up! I hope you feel encouraged and equipped to live for and long for the day of Jesus’ return!
Please let me know anything that encourages you. I’d love to be in touch with you! Until next week!
Come Lord Jesus!
